It is one of Italy's finest and most unspoilt mediaeval treasures, with its palazzi, towers and many splendid churches. Whether taking a stroll or a cycle on its famous walls, browsing the elegant boutiques of the Via Fillungo or enjoying an open-air concerto in the Piazza Napoleone, Lucca has something to offer every visitor.

The surrounding hills produce some excellent wines and arguably the finest olive oil anywhere in the world, whilst the beaches and nightlife are but a short hop away. The winter months are mild, the mornings crisp and afternoons pleasant and sunny - with excellent skiing facilities at Abetone, an hour's drive away, Piazzano is also an ideal winter destination.
